Living costs in Germany

게시된 위치 독일 공개토론

What are the living costs in Germany, especially concerning food and rental prices (in larger cities like Frankfurt)?
How much do I have to calculate per month?

Cost of a 2 bedroom apartment in Frankfurt is aprox 800-1000 Euro all included. For localities you can stay anywhere in Frankfurt or Mainz (check the S-Bahn connections). Day-to-day living expenses really depend on your lifestyle, but you should calculate for another 1500 Euros at least.

We are a couple looking forward to move to Frankfurt in June 2009. Our office will be in Russelsheim. Please help us with the following information:

    1) Cost of renting a 2 bedroom and 1 bedroom furnished apartment
    2) What are the localities where we can stay?
    3) Day-to-day living expenses (without the house rental)

This is because Eastern Germany is not yet as economically developed as the west - so both salaries and living costs are lower

Living costs in Eastern Germany are certainly lower on average. Especially the rental cost!

Well - Berlin is probably still cheaper than Darmstadt, though cost of living in Darmstadt is much lower than in Munich.

As for student cost of living, you will be absolutely fine with 700 Euros. 400 Euros seems very little for Western Germany though, as you usually already pay some 300 euros for rent (there are cheaper places in dormitories but they are often filled).
