Passionate about wine & want to learn more? Our Saturday course is a fascinating introduction to the world of wine. Do you want to discover fascinating and delicious new wines & grape varieties? Do you want to taste a variety of wines and understand what makes them so different? Do you want to know which wine to drink with what food? Then this is the courses for you! It is also a great way to meet new friends who share your love of wine.

Course Outline:

How to taste wine like a professional - aroma, flavours, describing wines
How wine is made - grapes, fermentation and ageing
Recognising elements of wine - tannin, acidity, oak
Introduction to the World’s major wine regions
New World Wines (Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, California) vs Old World Classics (France, Italy, & Spain)
The effect of climate on the taste of wine
Major Red Grape Varieties – Shiraz, Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Tempranillo & others.
Major White Grape Varieties – Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, & others!
Tutored Tasting of at least 12 Wines
Which wines to buy, where to obtain the best value for money, storing & serving wine, understanding wine labels

SATURDAY PROGRAMME

1030 – 1100: Kick off including Champagne

1100 – 1230: Morning session

1230 – 1330: Lunch including a glass of wine

1330 – 1430: Afternoon session 1

1430 – 1445: comfort break including coffee & tea

1445 – 1600: Afternoon session 2
