Coming to Finland to Study Masters ;)

Posted in Vaasa forum

Hi All,

I have just been accepted to study at the University of Vaasa- Masters in International Business. I am excited and eager to come but need some advice from all who currently living there. If you can please advise on:

- Is it possible to get a part-time job (especially if English is my only language)?
- Are there any links you can share to help me search for opportunities to work part-time?
- I lived in Helsinki and Oulu before, are they completely different to Vaasa? Is the cost of living the same?

Thanks,

Celia

Can anyone please tell me how life in Finland is especially Vaasa for Foreign students...and is it true that between 500 and 700 euros will be enough to cover all the expenses of an average student? I am planning to come to University of Vaasa to study MSC in International Business. Thanks

@Charles - thanks for the advice :) hope it will help to choose apartments. @Celia still don't know what programme to choose - finance or industrial management. i tried to find any forums about study in Vaasa - it's unsuccessful. So I'm just watching what voas offer and watching map of Vaasa, trying to decide what place is better :)

ook.i see.most schools in vaasa including the university are located in the same street-wolffintie (wolffskavagen). So,it will be wise for you to compare the distances from the suggested apartments to the university. give priority to loftis, olympia, tekla and ahventie.each have their problem though, but threy i are the best for students i think

@ksenia, what don't you like about the apartment from voas? i actually live in one of their apartments.be careful to choose an apartment that is not too fall from the university, cos some of the apartment are located miles away from the shools :)...their rent vary greatly though, but everything depends on your pocket..goodluck people

congratultions :), well vaasa is no different from other finish cities i would say in terms of social tempo.but its expected that helsinki should be more expensive than vaasa but also at the same time,it is also easier to get a job in Hel than in vaasa
